Wildcats Third, T-Birds Fourth at State Soccer

The Hayden Wildcats and the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds both wrapped their soccer seasons last Friday and Saturday at the KSHSAA State Championships. Both teams fell in their semifinal matches and played in the consolation games.

In class 4A in Wichita, Hayden fell 4-0 to Bishop Miege, the eventual state champion, in their semifinal. The Wildcats rebounded to take third place with a 2-0 win over Heartland Christian Academy.

In class 5A in Spring Hill, the Thunderbirds lost an absolute heartbreaker in the semifinals, coming up short 3-2 to Maize South in a four-overtime match. Shawnee Heights ended up placing fourth after a 3-2 loss to Eisenhower in the consolation game.
