This week’s Azura Credit Union Athletes of the Week are Seaman junior soccer player Jeron Poteete and Washburn Rural senior volleyball player Macy DeLeye.
Poteete has been a catalyst for the Seaman soccer team since his freshman season and a full-time starter the last two years. He’s off to a strong start in the scoring department for the 3-1 Vikings, including a five-goal performance in a win over Lansing last week. We spoke to Jeron about his strengths as a player, his favorite club soccer teams to watch, and more.
DeLeye is one of the veteran leaders for the second-ranked Lady Blues volleyball squad, who is 7-1 on the season. She’s one of just two returning starters from the team that finished third in Class 6A last season. DeLeye is an all-around player who excels at the net and with her serve. She has committed to play volleyball at Drake. We spoke to Macy about her role as a senior leader on her team, how she made her college choice, teaming up with her freshman sister Brooklyn on this year’s team, and more.
