This week’s Azura Credit Union Athlete of the Week is Shawnee Heights senior soccer player Ethan Armbruster.
Armbruster was named the United Kansas Conference Player of the Year this week after the Thunderbirds finished their season with a 16-5 record and a fourth-place finish in class 5A. It was Heights’ first trip to the state soccer final four in 11 years. Armbruster, who was playing with the T-Birds for the first time after spending his first three years as a high schooler with the Sporting Kansas City Academy teams, led the team in scoring. We talked to Ethan about the experience playing with his high school classmates, what he liked and didn’t like about the academy experience, being the conference Player of the Year, and more.
