Catching up with what we missed in a weather-interrupted week, including a new Centennial League boys swimming champion.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Shawnee Heights fell to Piper, the #2 team in class 4A according to the KBCA, by a 65-37 score on Wednesday night. Adysen Burghart’s eight points led the Lady T-Birds.
On Thursday night, Topeka West’s girls lost to Junction City 57-27 while the Charger boys stopped the Blue Jays 47-42.
BOYS SWIMMING
Washburn Rural claimed the Centennial League championship on Thursday at the Capital Federal Natatorium, with Manhattan coming in second and Seaman third. Rural’s Dagen Clouse was a double gold medalist in the 50 free and the 100 free and also swam in first-place efforts in the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay. Seaman’s Noah Florence also brought home two individual first-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley, and helped the Vikings win the 200 free relay. Seaman swept a quad at West Ridge Lanes on Wednesday.
