580 Preps Recap – Games/Events of 10-7-19
GIRLS GOLF
Washburn Rural claimed first-place team honors at the Manhattan Invitational at Stagg Hill Golf Club. Rural shot a team score of 348, 23 strokes better than second-place Manhattan. Madelyn Luttjohan’s 83 was the low score on the day for the Lady Blues, and good for third overall. Four other Lady Blues placed in the top 10; Kaitlyn Crough (86, 4th), Cassidy McMaster (89, 6th), Kasey Hamilton (90, 7th) and McKenna Merrick (91, 8th). Shawnee Heights’ team score of 404 placed fourth, with Olivia Morgan’s 95 their best score of the day and 12th best overall. Lois Deeter shot an 82 to place second overall and lead the way for Seaman, whose team total of 412 placed them fifth.

Hayden was scheduled to compete in the Silver Lake Invitational at Western Hills.
GIRLS TENNIS
The Centennial League championship meet took place at Kossover, with Manhattan taking home the team title and both the singles and doubles championships. Washburn Rural came in second, led by sophomore Sheriden Wichman’s third-place finish in singles and the doubles team of Grace Bradbury and Halley Robinett placing fourth. Hailey Beck and Kate Fritz teamed up to place fifth in doubles for Rural, and freshman Meredith Kucera was sixth in singles. In third place was Hayden, whose doubles team of Allyson Meier and Jenny Voegeli placed third. Hayden senior Marisol Blair was fourth in singles. Seaman took home fourth place, with Emma Biggs and Grace Unruh continuing their strong season as a doubles pair with a second place finish and junior Elise Schreiner taking fifth in singles. Topeka High was sixth as a team, while Topeka West was seventh and Highland Park was ninth.
BOYS SOCCER
Shawnee Heights routed Topeka West, 11-1. Hayden blanked Baldwin, 2-0. Topeka High got a pair of second half goals to defeat Tonganoxie 2-0. Seaman fell at Mill Valley, 4-2.
Highland Park was scheduled to play at Maranatha Academy.
