A heart-stopping girls basketball game at Seaman highlighted the night’s action.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Washburn Rural held off Seaman 42-40 at Seaman to remain one game off the leader’s pace in the Centennial League race. Emma Krueger scored two of her team-high 14 points off an out-of-bounds play with five seconds left to break a tie and give the Lady Blues the win, their fifth straight. The Lady Vikes dropped their second game in a row despite Chloe Carter’s 22 points.
Hayden started fast and never looked back in a 57-39 home win over Junction City. Macy Smith poured in 16 points for the Lady Wildcats, who have now won five of their last six after an 0-4 start. Rhen Calhoon posted a double-double (15 points, 11 boards) and Sophia Purcell added 10 points.
BOWLING
Seaman won their own triangular invite at West Ridge Lanes.
Topeka West’s boys and Topeka High’s girls were victorious at Gage Bowl in a TPS 501 triangular.
